The Centinela Tower is emerging as one of the most ambitious projects in security, technology, and surveillance in the state of Chihuahua. Conceived as the strategic command center of the Centinela Platform, this 20-story tower, standing over 110 meters tall, will be the tallest building in Ciudad Juárez and a key component in statewide police coordination.
A Key Infrastructure for Security
The project was presented to the public as part of the state security strategy known as the Centinela Platform, promoted by the Government of Chihuahua to strengthen urban surveillance and combat crime through cutting-edge technology and police intelligence. The tower will house the various divisions of the State Public Security Secretariat and will serve as a central hub to monitor and coordinate operations across the state’s 67 municipalities.
Within its infrastructure, it will include several coordination and intelligent video surveillance centers, featuring 360-degree “Video Wall” screens to oversee in real time the operations of regional sub-centers.
The construction began in August 2022 in the historic downtown area of Ciudad Juárez. The project has been designed with advanced technology, including a helipad and extensive facilities for operational personnel.
International Collaboration and Technology
Beyond its local function, the Centinela Tower will also serve as a point of collaboration with U.S. security agencies, such as the Drug Enforcement Administration and other border enforcement entities, strengthening information sharing and binational cooperation in surveillance and the fight against cross-border crime.
The project includes the interconnection of thousands of cameras, license plate reader systems, drones, and other intelligent monitoring tools that are part of the Centinela Platform, with the goal of reducing high-impact crimes and increasing public safety.
Urban Impact
In addition to its operational role, authorities have indicated that the Centinela Tower is also intended to contribute to the urban revitalization of downtown Juárez, promoting development and modernization in a strategic area of the city.
Recently, a group of business leaders toured the facilities to learn about the progress and operation of the Centinela Platform. The visit was organized by Desarrollo Económico del Norte, whose director accompanied the group and emphasized the importance of the business sector being informed about the technological and security projects being promoted in the region.

Concebida como el centro de mando estratégico de la Plataforma Centinela, esta torre de 20 pisos y más de 110 metros de altura será la edificación más alta de Ciudad Juárez y una pieza clave para la coordinación policial estatal.
Una infraestructura clave para la seguridad
El proyecto se presentó ante la ciudadanía como parte de la estrategia estatal de seguridad denominada Plataforma Centinela, impulsada por el gobierno de Chihuahua para fortalecer la vigilancia urbana y combatir el crimen mediante tecnología de punta e inteligencia policial. La torre albergará a las diversas instancias de la Secretaría de Seguridad Pública del Estado y servirá como nexo para monitorear y coordinar operativos en los 67 municipios del estado.
Dentro de su infraestructura contará con varios centros de coordinación y video vigilancia inteligente, incluidas áreas con pantallas tipo “Video Wall” de 360 grados para supervisar en tiempo real las operaciones de los subcentros regionales.
Construcción y avances
La obra inició en agosto de 2022 en el centro histórico de Ciudad Juárez, en terrenos donados por el Ayuntamiento y ha sido proyectada con tecnología avanzada, incluyendo un helipuerto y amplias instalaciones para personal operativo.
Colaboración internacional y tecnología
Más allá de su función local, la Torre Centinela también será un punto de colaboración con agencias de seguridad de Estados Unidos, como la Drug Enforcement Administration y otras corporaciones fronterizas, para fortalecer el intercambio de información y la cooperación binacional en tareas de vigilancia y combate al crimen transfronterizo.
El proyecto contempla la interconexión con miles de cámaras, sistemas de lectura de placas, drones y otras herramientas de monitoreo inteligente que forman parte de la Plataforma Centinela, con el objetivo de reducir delitos de alto impacto e incrementar la seguridad de la población.
Impacto urbano
Además de su función operativa, las autoridades han señalado que la Torre Centinela también busca contribuir a la recuperación urbana del centro histórico de Juárez, impulsando desarrollo y modernización en una zona estratégica.
Recientemente un grupo de empresarios realizó un recorrido por las instalaciones para conocer los avances y el funcionamiento de la Plataforma Centinela. La visita fue organizada por Desarrollo Económico del Norte, cuyo director acompañó al grupo y subrayó la relevancia de que el sector empresarial conozca los proyectos tecnológicos y de seguridad que se impulsan en la región.
