The Museum of Juarez Identities (MIJ) opened its doors with a clear and profound goal: to strengthen pride in a city whose virtues are often overlooked. Ciudad Juárez, which our beloved Juan Gabriel described as the most beautiful and lovely city in the world, now has a cultural space where its history, creativity, and diversity can be told, celebrated, and shared with everyone.
The museum invites visitors to explore the history, milestones, and social, cultural, and political events that have shaped Ciudad Juárez into what it is today: a multicultural hub that supports the state’s economy, unites diverse communities, and builds collective identity.
Its museographic narrative is designed to connect past and present. From prehistory with the ancient Tethys Sea to contemporary times, guided tours take the public through the various stages that have marked the city’s growth and transformation, all within spaces designed for reflection and learning.
Among the museum’s highlights are immersive and virtual reality spaces, where stories and environments come alive in sensory and participatory ways; as well as the Identity Hall, where hundreds of faces — some widely known, others less so — share their version of the generous city that is Juárez.
In addition to the permanent exhibition, the museum offers temporary galleries, educational programs, and activities specifically designed for children, teens, and young adults, fostering a sense of belonging from an early age.

El Museo de las Identidades Juarenses abrió sus puertas con un objetivo claro y profundo: fortalecer el orgullo por una ciudad a la que, muchas veces, no se le reconocen sus virtudes. Ciudad Juárez, que nuestro querido JuanGa describió como la más bonita y bella del mundo, encuentra en este espacio cultural un lugar para mostrar que su historia, creatividad y diversidad merecen ser contadas, celebradas y conocidas por propios y ajenos.
El museo invita a sus visitantes a recorrer la historia, los hitos y los acontecimientos sociales, culturales y políticos que han convertido a Ciudad Juárez en lo que es hoy: una vasija multicultural que alimenta la economía del estado, une comunidades diversas y construye identidad colectiva.
Su narrativa museográfica está diseñada para conectar pasado y presente. Desde la prehistoria con el antiguo mar de Tetis hasta la contemporaneidad, los recorridos guiados llevan al público por diferentes etapas que han marcado el crecimiento y la transformación de la ciudad a través del tiempo; todo en salas pensadas para la reflexión y el aprendizaje.
Entre las experiencias más destacadas, el museo cuenta con espacios inmersivos y de realidad virtual, donde historias y entornos cobran vida de forma sensorial y participativa; así como una Sala de Identidad, en la que cientos de rostros —algunos ampliamente conocidos, otros menos— comparten su versión de la ciudad tan generosa que es Juárez.
Además de la exposición permanente, el museo ofrece salas temporales, programas educativos y actividades diseñadas especialmente para niñas, niños, adolescentes y jóvenes, fomentando el sentido de pertenencia desde edades tempranas.
